- *Air Monitoring Data - Current readings for particulates are available for the King City, Carmel Valley, Monterey (titled “Shop Monterey”), Salinas, Watsonville, Santa Cruz and Davenport stations Link
To check readings of particle pollution at any one of these stations, in the “Air Quality Maps” page, click on the down arrow in the dialog box, scroll down and 1) click on “Particulates” for the most recent readings throughout the air basin, or 2) click on “Historical -Particulates” for historical readings throughout the air basin. The top line of each location box indicates PM10, the particulate reading in ug/m3, and the time of the reading (PST, backwards average over 1 hour). PM10 means particulate matter under 10 microns in size, the inhalable size range. Ug/m3 means micrograms per cubic meter, the concentration of smoke in the air. The PM10 health categories for 1-hour averages are: Good 0-40; Moderate 41-80; Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups 81-175; Unhealthy 176-300; Very Unhealthy 301-500; Hazardous >500. Real-time readings of particulates may be elevated due to smoke, ash and dust.
